Oceanergy offshore wind power and H2 production
Developer Name : Oceanergy Pty (Ltd)
Speaker : Dr Wolfram Reiners, CEO, Oceanergy
Project synopsis : Oceanergy has developed the KITE GAS/FUEL SHIP technology, a ship-based mobile wind power plant, to harvest wind energy on the open ocean, far from land. Smartly navigated, according to the wind forecast, they find permanent and strong wind, resulting in a multitude of power and energy to harvest. The KITE GAS/FUEL SHIP is an RES (renewable energy source), with integrated H2 production, storage, and logistics unit to feed-in to H2 terminals, alternatively ammonia-terminals. Calculations show that the KITE GAS/FUEL SHIP, due to its high-capacity factor of 80-90% can harvest up to 160 times more wind power per annum than a 3 MW land-based wind turbine. This will result in low cost green hydrogen production of less than $2/kg delivered to port by 2030.
