FAQs

ACCOMMODATION 

Iccommodate is GEA's official and only accommodation partner. They have secured discounted bedrooms at a number of hotels surrounding the event venue.  You can chat using their live booking system or alternatively email the team via [email protected] to take advantage of their rates. 

VENUE INFORMATION & SERVICES  

GEA is held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC2) located on the corner of Heerengracht Street & Rua Bartholomeu Dias Plain.

Car parking:  Please use P1 & P3 parking areas for a daily fee.  Vehicles, taxis and Uber’s will not be able to stop outside CTICC2 and should use the designated lanes for drop off and pick up.   

Cloakroom: This is available on the ground floor.  Luggage will not be accepted and should be left with your hotel concierge.  The organisers will not be held responsible for any items left in the cloakroom and you do so at your own risk. 

Internet: Free Wi-Fi is available with instructions provided on arrival.  

VISAS 

Please email [email protected] to request a visa support letter.  Please include the name of the delegate with their registration number.  Letters will only be issued on receipt of payment. 

We have partnered with Xpatweb to assist with any visa applications.  Please email them at [email protected].

BADGES  

Barcodes will be issued one week before the event if your ticket has been fully paid.  At registration, present the barcode to collect your badge.  Your badge provides access to the event or any permitted networking functions. Without it, entry will be refused.

PAYMENTS, INVOICING & RECEIPTS

CATERING & DIETARIES

Refreshments: Are available all day at the Business Lounge within the exhibition hall and other points across the venue. 

Lunch: This will be served each day in the Lunch Hall on the ground floor between 12:00 – 15:00.  Friday lunch is at the Farewell Braai. 

Networking Happy Hours: This is held between 17:30 – 18:30 each day in the Business Lounge within the exhibition hall 

Dietaries: Other than vegetarian and vegan, please let us know of your specific dietary requirement via email at [email protected] at least 5 working days before the event. 

NETWORKING EVENTS

There will be networking events each evening from 19.00 – 22.00.  Details of which will be shared via delegate communication in advance and during the event.  Please note you will need to show your badge to gain access into the receptions

EXHIBITORS 

General queries: For any queries in regards to your exhibition stand, access to the exhibitor portal, exhibitor registration or any other query in relation to your participation please email [email protected].. 

Access during build: Exhibitors can access the halls on Monday 7 October from 13:00 – 16:00 to dress their stands.  If you need to arrange access any earlier please email us via [email protected]

Access during the event: Exhibitors can access the halls from 08:00 on each of the live event days. 

Access during breakdown:  Exhibitors can begin to pack away their stands from 18:30 on Thursday 10 October but not any earlier.  Contractors will not be allowed to access the halls until 08:00 on Friday 11 October.  If you have any specific breakdown requests please email the team at [email protected]

SPEAKERS 

If you are due to speak at the event, unsure of where you need to report to or have questions about your presentation please send your enquiry via email to Laisa Ahmed at [email protected].  

STUDENTS 

Students are welcome to join the event on Wednesday 9 October only.  All student passes need to be verified in advance and can only be collected on the day.  Please note that student passes are not valid for any of the evening networking functions.  
 

PRESS

Accredited members can apply to attend.  If approved, badge collection barcodes are issued one week before the event.  There is a dedicated press lounge, operated by our PR company including places to work, branded interview walls and a video recording booth. 
 

SECURITY & PERSONAL SAFETY 

Your delegate badge permits access to the event and any approved networking functions.  No badge means no entry. 

All delegates will pass through airport style security on arrival at CTICC.  This is also a firearm free event. 

Security concerns should be reported to the Venue Operations Centre located on Level 1 

Crime, especially petty theft, can be prevalent in Cape Town.  Delegates are encouraged to remain vigilant at all times and should get taxis across the city especially at night.  South African Police can be contacted in an emergency on 10111.

COVID-19 

All Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted by the South African Government.  We ask delegates to respect those who still follow certain measures including mask wearing, not shaking hands and maintaining social distancing.  The organisers will provide hand sanitiser in high traffic areas and high standards of cleanliness at the venue.
