The German development agency has allocated €49 million to its new Clean Energy and Energy Inclusion for Africa Foundation to support renewable energy electrification in Africa. The funds can provide off-grid solar systems and mini-grids, solar home systems, cooling systems, solar-powered mills and pumps, and solar lanterns.
With this funding, the agency aims to support the construction of 187 green mini grids with a combined capacity of 17 MWp. These facilities should connect 70,000 households to an electricity grid and provide 350,000 Africans with access to electricity.
