Côte d'Ivoire will shortly supply electricity to Sierra Leone

According to a press release, Côte d'Ivoire will shortly supply electricity to Sierra Leone, as part of the Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea electricity networks interconnection project (CLSG).

Côte d'Ivoire has signed two successive agreements with Guinea and Sierra Leone to supply them with electricity. Under the terms of this three-year renewable agreement, Côte d'Ivoire undertakes to supply Guinea with 11 MW of electricity each year from 2021 to 2023. Over the three-year period, this results in a total capacity of 33 MW of electricity. Sierra Leone, will purchase 70 GWh per year for the first two years (2021 and 2022), then 100 GWh during the third year (2023).

Thomas Camara, the Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy stated that this project reflects the vision outlined by the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara, to make Côte d'Ivoire the energy hub of the sub-region.
