Kerstin Duhme is a Senior Managing Director in the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting and heads the Brussels energy, transport, and environment practice. Kerstin has extensive know-how in developing and executing political communications strategies.
The Paris agreement and the EU’s flagship Green Deal are driving a step-change in the global response to the climate emergency. Europe is taking a lead in developing sustainability and ESG policies that will influence future legislative and regulatory frameworks around the globe that businesses will need to adapt to.
Utilizing her broad understanding of the Brussels political landscape, Kerstin has run multiple advocacy campaigns on high profile issues, providing government relations and public affairs counsel to clients in a variety of sectors including energy ( LNG, Oil, Renewables, hydrogen, etc), packaging, materials, chemicals, and agriculture.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Kerstin was an election campaigner for the Green party and worked for German MEP Elisabeth Schroedter in the German Bundestag and European Parliament, with a focus on sustainable development. This experience gave her unrivaled insights into the political dynamics at the heart of the European decision-making process and a clear understanding of the need to create an effective dialogue with politicians and political opinion formers including NGOs and activists. She has since developed an integrated communications approach to promoting awareness and understanding of her client’s business priorities amongst a broad range of policymakers, stakeholders, and influencers.
The topic of a Just energy transition is further bought into the spotlight when you consider the true potential of natural gas as a fuel source in Africa.
